PARIS – At next month’s Texworld exhibition in Paris, Messe Frankfurt has organised a seminar that will feature leading experts who will go ‘in search of organic and other sustainable textiles.’

Speakers from the Soil Association, Fairtrade Labelling Organisations, Lenzing and Organic Exchange will outline to textile manufacturers and buyers’ the various kinds of organic and sustainable textiles that are readily available, potential future market share and their commercial impact.

“Some like recycled polyester or Lyocell are relatively new, others like hemp or organic cotton have been on the market for many years already,” said Bernd Müller, Project Director for sustainable textiles at Messe Frankfurt, “Leading experts from textile organisations and enterprises will discuss the question of how sustainable textiles have developed in the market and their future market share and business potential.”

Phil Patterson, managing director of Colour Connections and chair of the RITE Group will give a hard hitting presentation on textile eco-metrics entitled, “Facts about fiction: The truth, the whole truth and nothing like the truth.”

In addition to the seminar, which takes place on 15th September at Texworld located at Paris LeBourget there are certified suppliers of organic cotton, linen, hemp, recycled material or other sustainable textiles at the next edition of Texworld in addition to the regular fabric exhibitors.

A fabric forum ‘Eco-textiles: Fabrics that care’ and an eco-friendly textiles itinerary will be published in the visitor guide to allow attendees to easily identify sustainable textile suppliers.
