{besps}ss/RITE2{/besps}LONDON - Exhibition space has now sold out at the RITE Group conference on sustainable textiles with visitor bookings already up 10% on last year. Delegates are now also eligible to attend the Soil Association annual lecture straight after the conference free of charge.

The fourth annual conference entitled “Shaping Tomorrow’s Industry’, looks like being jammed packed this year as sustainable textiles remain firmly on the agenda for brands such as Adidas, Nike, Tesco, M&S, John Lewis, C&A, Body Shop, Etam, George, Monsoon, Boden and many others who are already booked to attend.

The UK not for profit organisation says that booking are now flooding in with only a limited number of places at the event “we always get significant numbers of bookings in the immediate run up to the event so there is a strong possibility we could reach capacity,” said RITE chairman Phil Patterson.

Rather than covering old ground, this year’s RITE Group has put together a new, impressive and diverse speaker line-up that intends to push back the frontiers of discussion about eco-textiles and the environment.

In addition, and to offer even greater value to delegates, in partnership with the Soil Association, the leading organic certification body in the UK, RITE attendees are eligible for free entry to the Soil Association’s annual Lady Eve Lecture given by Andrew Simms, policy director of the New Economics Foundation. The event will take place at 6.30 pm, Conway Hall, Red Lion Square, London WC1. The nearest tube is Holborn.

In another innovation, the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), will be debuting a new film at the event which will run during the lunch breaks. This will be released simultaneously at the RITE event in London and at the Interstoff Asia textile sourcing show in Hong Kong which is run by Messe Frankfurt.

Breakout sessions

RITE delegates will also be able to attend two breakout sessions from a total of five. The Ethical Fashion Forum will be giving RITE delegates an exclusive round up of its concurrent seminars at one of the breakout sessions.

Other sessions include ‘Textile fibres: nature, science or hybrid’, which will include the distribution of a new RITE document on GM and textiles. Other breakouts include authoritative debate on ‘current eco-textile standards and a sustainable sector?’; ‘Opportunities and barriers in textile recycling’; and a session on ‘How can consumers change their buying behaviour?’

The Ethical Fashion Source exhibition will also run alongside the RITE Group conference and RITE partners C.L.A.S.S. will showcase high-end sustainable fashion from leading designers on a series of mannequins in the main foyer of the event.
