TIRUPUR - Over 700 textile dyeing and finishing units in Tirupur India have been ordered to shut down by the Madras High Court after discharging salt-laden effluent into the nearby Noyyal river, which has severely impacted on local farmers and the environment.
As part of the sanctions, the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB) has even started to cut the power supply to the bleaching and dyeing units in nearby Tirupur, which have not voluntarily closed following the court ruling.
