LONDON - Organisers of the RITE Group conference have announced details of the break-out sessions that will take place at this October’s fifth annual session.

Topics covered will include sustainable materials, traceability, metrics, and even population growth and design and small brands.

As well as a moderator, each session will feature a number of key industry commentators and experts, each giving their views on the role these activities play in improving the sustainability performance of textiles and where they see opportunities for convergence and future trends. Delegates will hear from speakers such as Richard Swannell, WRAP; Donna Day Lafferty , BCI; Lee Holdstock, Soil Association; and Esther Verburg, MADE-BY.

During the ‘Making sense of voluntary agreements and standards for sustainable textiles’ session, RITE Steering Group (SG) member Dorothy Maxwell of environmental consultancy GVSS will lead a discussion on the key coalitions, activities and environmental standards in the textile arena.

Elsewhere, the session covering population growth and raw material selection will be moderated by RITE Steering Group members Simon Ferrigno and Mike Kininmonth while the session on ‘Sustainable Materials’ will be led by Dr Richard Blackburn.

Delegates will also be able to take part in the session on ‘Traceability & Metrics’. Led by Phil Patterson, this session will explore how good and how fair metrics systems are, can they be populated by real-time, measured data and how can that data be brought to the end-consumer in easy to understand formats.

A session moderated by Dilys Williams will focus on ‘Design and small brands and in particular, new models for fashion design business including new approaches to design, manufacturing, sourcing, service and interaction with the wearer.
