HONG KONG - This year’s Sustainable Textiles Conference, which takes place on October 4-5 in Hong Kong, will begin with an Organic Cotton Round Table, a meeting of brands, retailers, producers, and other value chain members aimed at establishing a plan of action that addresses key issues and identifies and removes barriers to growth, including non-GM seed supply, forward contracting, and sourcing strategies.

This year’s conference, which will see Textile Exchange partner with Ecotextile News, Messe Frankfurt, and Planet Textiles as co-organisers, will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, once again running alongside the Interstoff Asia Essential Autumn Under the theme Innovation, Investment, Impacts and Integrity delegates will be welcomed by Eraina Duffy, Board Chair, Textile Exchange and Considered Materials Manager for Nike and LaRhea Pepper, Managing Director, Textile Exchange.

They will then hear from Anne Gillespie, Director of Industry Integrity, Textile Exchange who will discuss Shifts and Growth in Integrity; and Heidi McCloskey, Director of Communications + Resource Development, Textile Exchange, who will talk about Trends and Market Developments since the 2011 Barcelona conference.

Other confirmed speakers include Jason Kibbey, Sustainable Apparel Coalition, who will highlight the plans for the Sustainable Apparel Index and how it will reach the consumer; Ricky Miyatake, Teijin and Christina Dean, ReDress, who will discuss ‘End of Life…Just the Beginning’; Steve Richardson, Patagonia and Marcus Bruegel, Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), who will give their take on issues surrounding standards and integrity; and John Ranieri, Vice President of Biosciences Division, DuPont, who will outline Biobased Solutions for a Growing Population.
