US textile waste growth prompts recycling scheme

ARIZONA – The latest statistics from the US’s Environmental Protection Agency estimate that a huge 13.1 million tons of textiles were thrown away in 2010, the most recent year for which statistics are available - 5.3 per cent of the country’s total municipal solid waste (MSW) generation.
