Printing pollutionBEIJING – The Institute of Public and Environmental Affairs (IPE), a leading environmental NGO in China, has released its second in a series of exposés about the severe water pollution problems caused by textile dyeing and finishing in China. The latest report criticises brands such as Marks & Spencer, Disney, Polo Ralph Lauren, JC Penney and Tommy Hilfiger – but also notes that H&M, Nike, Esquel, Levi’s, adidas, Walmart, Burberry and Gap have all proactively followed up on its first report earlier this year and established regular screening mechanisms on textile dyehouse suppliers.
