berlinBERLIN - 70 international labels will be presenting their sustainable 2013/14 autumn/winter collections at the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin. The show takes place 15 to 17 January 2013 at ework and overlaps with Berlin Fashion Week. Leading brands including Studio Jux and Elementum will be taking part as well as many newcomers, such as Aikyou, Stormie Poodle and Milde.

Ethical Fashion Show Berlin will run parallel with the Greenshowroom. Greenshowroom will focus on high-end fashion in the Adlon Kempinski Hotel while the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin will showcase a mix of street and casual wear labels at the Ewerk venue.

"The Greenshowroom and the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin have a very clear profile and feature important issues for the textile industry. In January the spotlight will be on sustainable footwear, upcycling and denim," said Olaf Schmidt, Vice President of Textiles & Textile Technologies at Messe Frankfurt, the show’s organisers.

Upcycling is a waste avoidance strategy that diverts used consumer goods back into circulation while improving them with clever design processes. The denim section will feature labels such as Sey and Nurmi who are using organic denim made of high-quality and fair-trade cotton for their jeans and forgoing toxic materials.

For the first time, the Ethical Fashion Show Berlin will feature an extensive programme of talks in the Knowledge Lounge. Representatives of GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard), IVN (International Association of the Natural Textiles Industry), The Fair Fashion Network and ECCHR (European Centre for Constitutional and Human Rights) will report and hold discussions on topics relating to green fashion.
