Supply chain transparency has been flagged up once again in the textiles industry, due to Uzbekistan’s alleged use of child labour in Uzbekistan.

Fashion retailer H&M has been targeted by labour organisations, including Anti Slavery International and the Environmental Justice Foundation, for its alleged ties with Daewoo International, whose Uzbek subsidiary: Daewoo Textile Fergana’s website explicitly states it specialises in “textile production, cotton fabric and yarn, using as raw materials the best grades of cotton grown in Uzbekistan.”
