SHANGHAI – The global unpaid environmental cost of water consumption by production and processing businesses is an estimated US$1.9 trillion, with part of the cost linked to drought causing cotton price volatility, according to new research for the Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity for Business Coalition.
