Invista launches bio-derived Lycra

Fibre productionGENEVA – Invista has today launched a brand new bio-derived Lycra made of 70 per cent bio-based renewable raw materials, which is the only commercially available bio-derived spandex currently on the market. Invista says it plans to make 300 – 400 tons of this fibre in 2014, which is enough to go into tens of millions of garments worldwide. Arnaud Tandonnet, Invista global sustainability director speaks to John Mowbray.
