Sustainable growth … and other oxymorons

COVERWAKEFIELD – Rapidly growing retail brands are fooling no one while they continue to espouse the oxymoron of “sustainable growth” – that’s the message of a no-punches-pulled cover story to appear in the next print edition of Ecotextile News. “Any additional capacity on top of existing capacity is a bad thing from an environmental perspective – even if the new capacity is lower impact,” states our correspondent, former M&S man, Phil Patterson, who highlights the unfortunate trend of clothing brands, along with dyehouses, continuing to take the “path of least resistance” to growth.
