State ban on microbeads raises new concerns

Polyethylene based microspherules in toothpasteCHICAGO – As Illinois becomes the first US state to ban plastic microbeads – the tiny bits of plastic found in consumer products like soap and skin exfoliants – new scientific research shows that microscopic polyester textile fibres are now also showing up in the aquatic food chain.
