BERLIN – The unveiling of an ambitious German initiative, which is pressing for more environmentally and socially responsible, clothing supply chains, has met with a mixed response. Gerd Müller, Germany's Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) launched the new Textiles Alliance in Berlin this week with the support of 29 textiles companies and associations. However, Green Party parliamentarian Renate Künast criticised the initiative for lacking in ambition, while two of Germany's leading textile associations claimed the Alliance's goals are not realistic.
