NETHERLANDS – Global carpet tile manufacturer and Cradle to Cradle (C2C) partner company Desso has launched what it claims is a non-toxic closed loop carpet tile material, derived from upcycled chalk from local water companies. The ‘EcoBase’ carpet tile backing will use up to 20,000 tonnes of re-engineered calcium carbonate (chalk) waste from Dutch drinking water companies such as Brabant and WML, and will result in EcoBase products containing an average of 50 per cent recycled content.
