Tchibo treads carefully after Ethiopia revelations

HAMBURG - German retailer Tchibo has told Ecotextile News it is currently running on-the-ground investigations in Ethiopia and that only when it is satisfied with the outcome of these will it consider sourcing organic cotton from the country. The company was responding to our questions after we uncovered information linking proposed new organic cotton projects in the Lower Omo Valley, Southern Ethiopia with land grabs of virgin land and the removal of populations and human rights abuses.
