AMSTERDAM – Following pledges of support from six leading Italian textile suppliers and last week’s announcement of Puma’s enhanced commitment to the elimination of hazardous chemicals from its supply chain within the next two years; Greenpeace says its Detox campaign, which now boasts over half a million signatories to its online manifesto; cannot be ignored as it calls for more significant corporate action and government policy changes in 2015.

After a relatively quiet summer, the Greenpeace Detox campaign heads towards the New Year boosted by a flurry of interest – firstly with pledges from six Italian companies (Miroglio, Berbrand, Attilio Imperriali, Italdenim, Besani and ZIP Gfd SPA) who voluntarily signed up to the campaign at the end of Milan fashion Week in September. Then last week sports giant Puma released a detailed action plan for its commitment to phase out the use of dangerous chemicals and the release of discharge data.
