DHAKA - The world's leading garment sourcing destinations should be required to go through the same scrutiny process as Bangladesh by having their manufacturing factories inspected by the Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh and Alliance for Bangladesh Worker Safety. That's the view of Hedayetullah Al Mamoon, senior secretary of the Ministry of Commerce Government in Bangladesh, who claims the changes the Bangladesh Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry has been obligated to make following Rana Plaza mean the industry in Bangladesh is now more "compliant than any other" garment sourcing destination. "...the future is bright for us," he says. "However, we should get equal treatment everywhere. [The] Accord and Alliance should go everywhere and what compliance we achieved by this time other competitors should also achieve that."
