TAIPEI – Representatives from Taiwan's textile industry claim businesses from the country's effluent processing sector have formed cartels in order to hike the price of effluent treatment equipment – meaning many textile manufacturers are struggling with the cost of treating their textile sludge. Industry representatives claim the cost of treating waste has quadrupled in recent times and are urging the Taiwan government to improve regulation in the country's processing sector.
