EU bans NPEs in clothing imports

Written by Brett Mathews

BRUSSELS - Members of the European Union have unanimously voted to expand a ban nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs) to include clothing which is imported into member nations. While NPE use in production was banned several years ago in the EU, NPE use in Asian manufacturing locations is still a major concern. The European Commission is expected to approve the ban in the upcoming weeks, and it will take effect within five years.
