JIANGSU – Analysis of data from 137 textile firms in China's Jiangsu province over a 12-month period strongly indicates that environmental efficiency has a positive impact on output efficiency in the textile industry because environmentally friendly practices reduce businesses costs through reduced inputs – most notably energy. The findings provide robust support for projects such as the National Resources Defence Council (NRDC) Clean By Design programme, which is helping textile mills to make water-saving and other operational improvements.
