BIELLA – Italian yarn spinner Marchi & Fildi has launched a new 'smart cotton' which is made entirely from 100 per cent pre-dyed cotton textile clippings. Manufactured using a fully traceable process, Ecotec leads to significant environmental savings during production, according to a life cycle analysis (LCA) study – including using 56 per cent less energy and 78 per cent less water than conventional cotton yarn spinning.
