PARIS – A new report claims the global apparel industry is contributing to the degradation of the world's biodiversity and undermining eco-systems. The water and pesticide-intensive nature of cotton production, the use of viscose, which uses wood pulp and allegedly contributes to deforestation, and the polluting parts of the dyeing and finishing of textiles are the parts of the fashion supply chain which do most damage, according to the report.
