SHAOXING – Production has started at what is believed to be China's largest recycled polyester plant, in a venture which is being led by Zhejiang Jiaren New Materials Co, a joint venture between Japanese technology business, Teijin, and Jinggong Holding Group, a Shaoxing-based multinational involved with environmental management. The plant recycles polyester fibre scraps and used polyester products into DMT. The DMT will be used for the production of polyester resin, as well as value-added polyester fibre, leveraging the Teijin Group's polymer and fibre-spinning technologies. The operation has an initial production capacity of 20,000 tons per year, with sales mainly being taken up by Chinese textile manufacturers.
