MILAN – Italian luxury fashion house Valentino has missed its Greenpeace Detox targets according to the latest update on its efforts to remove potentially hazardous chemicals from its textile supply chains. Valentino pledged to eliminate all perfluorinated substances (PFCs) from its textile supply chains by the middle of 2015, however, our enquiries have found the company found the presence of PFCs in products in tests up to March 2016. Despite this, the public update by Valentino is to be welcomed, including as it does detailed information on the challenges of eliminating PFCs and also the step the business has taken to look at PFC substitutes.
