Written by Brett Mathews

MILAN – Italian thermal insulation company Thermore has developed a sports and outerwear down alternative made entirely from 100 per cent recycled post-consumer PET bottles. The updated 'Ecodown' brand is claimed to be the only synthetic alternative in the market made entirely from recycled content, while still claiming to provide unparalleled waterproofing and windproofing properties. Depending on the application, outerwear insulated with Ecodown can save up to 10 bottles per garment.
