GENEVA - The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) has entered into a partnership with the Global Soil Partnership (GSP) in a bid to promote more sustainable soil management in the cotton industry.

Together they will undertake two pilot projects - Soil Doctors, a farmer-to-farmer training programme, and Recsoil which rewards farmers for the amount of carbon sequestered in soil.

The GSP, part of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, was established in 2012 as a way of developing strong interactive partnerships and collaboration between stakeholders working with soils.
