LENZING / VÄXJÖ – Austrian fibre manufacturer Lenzing and Swedish pulp giant Södra are part of a coalition behind a new initiative to collect used clothing and household textiles for recycling back into new fibres.

Lenzing’s logistics and sorting partner ARA (Altstoff Recycling Austria AG), textile rental service provider Salesianer Miettex and the Caritas charity are also involved in what the partners say will be Austria's largest textile recycling project.

The pilot programme involves the collection, transport and sorting of used clothing and household textiles for reprocessing to produce pulp and, ultimately, new lyocell and viscose fibres.
