OREGON - Nike has today released its much anticipated open-source design tool which will help the company and the rest of the industry to reduce the environmental footprint of clothing and footwear.
The new software-based ‘Environmental Apparel Design Tool’ was designed and built by Nike over seven years with a US$6 million investment and is based on Nike’s Considered Design Index. The aim is to accelerate collaboration between companies, fast-track sustainable innovation and decrease the use of natural resources like oil and water.
