LONDON – [05.11.09] Not-for-profit organisation Made-By and the Organic Exchange is to host a seminar ‘The Case for Sustainable Fashion’ in London on 19 – 20 November, which aims to bring together ethical suppliers to the fashion industry from around the world.

Speakers at the event, which will be held at Pentland Group HQ, London, include senior figures from Made-By, the Organic Exchange, the RITE Group, Ethical Fashion Forum, TNS Worldpanel and Historic Futures, as well as talks and case studies from EDUN, Continental Clothing UK and the Carbon Trust.

The seminar will be held over two days and will be a combination of lectures, case studies, interactive clinics and panel discussions. “The seminar will highlight the latest innovations, how to address challenges and best practice in sustainable fashion production.  It is open to those involved in supply chain management, buying, designing, fabric sourcing, marketing, CSR and management of clothing brands and retailers,” said Made-By in a press release.

Topics to be covered at the Made-By event include: the business case for CSR – brands’ perspective; eco-friendly fabrics: understanding its definition, sourcing and production issues; fashion and consumer trends towards sustainability in Europe; a discussion on recycled polyester and carbon footprint of clothing products; product integrity; responsible dyeing among others.
