India event looks at sustainable dyeing

MUMBAI – [11.11.09] The AATCC Global Conference and Exhibition, Emerging Trends in Textile Processing for a Sustainable Future, will be held from 28-30, January, 2010 at the Bombay Textile Research Association in Mumbai, India.

With increasingly important topics such as colour, dyeing, finishing and printing, plasma technology, sustainable development, biotechnology in textiles, and eco-friendly aspects of textile and garment production on the agenda, the event will also feature a two-day exhibition.

Speakers confirmed so far include representatives from some of the industry’s major players including Michael Tyndall from Cotton Incorporated, who will speak on Technologies for Sustainable Dyeing of Cotton and Frank Berninger, DyStar, who will address delegates on Digital Textile Printing: The Greener Footprint for Modern, Colorful Fabrics.

Other confirmed speakers include Prabodh Chobe, BASF India, who will discuss Nanotechnology and Nano-finishes for Textiles; V.R. Kanetkar, Institute of Chemical Technology, speaking on Emerging Trends in Textile Processing for a Sustainable Future; and Dr. Wakankar, Clariant Chemicals India Limited, with a paper entitled Understanding the Impact of Environmental Legislation on Sustainable Textile Development.

There will also be presentations on Bio-solutions to Improve Sustainability, by Han Kuilderd, Novozymes; and Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Carbon Credits in the Textile Industry by Prasad Jakkaraju, TUV Nord.

The event will also include a networking reception to be held on the evening of 28 January.
