China Stakes reports that after more than two decades of leaving their inland hometowns in their hundreds of millions and working in the comparatively rich coastal provinces, they now find that they cannot retire.
Yi Chenfang, 54, from Hengyang, Hunan Province, has been working since 1987 in Guangzhou for a cosmetics company with the intention to retire next year when she turns 55, the legal retirement age. Now she finds that she is not entitled to any retirement benefit in Guangzhou.
