NEW YORK - Two of the world's largest apparel retailers, Walmart and H&M, have teamed up with the US-based Natural Resources Defense Council to help their Chinese textile suppliers reduce the environmental impact of their supply chains.
Walmart confirmed its commitment to work with NRDC's Clean by Design project at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative to help strategically selected mills to reduce water, energy, and chemical use. H&M initiated a similar agreement with NRDC in mid-September.
