NYCflagsTEXAS – Textile Exchange is to run a workshop on sustainability in the apparel and textile supply chain at the Arvind Denim Lab SoHo Loft in New York on 1st March 2012.

Sponsored by Arvind and Lenzing, the aim of this hands-on workshop is to provide a deep dive into the key aspects of social and environmental sustainability from design to textile manufacturing. Textile Exchange says that seats are intentionally limited in order to provide a hands-on learning environment with interactive discussions.

The main content of the workshop will include an overview on the social and environmental impacts of the apparel industry, detailed descriptions on sustainable organic, recycled and cellulosic materials, responsible dyeing and finishing and wet processing, ethical production, and product integrity transparency, labelling and certification.

Speakers include representatives from Lenzing, Clariant International, Anvil Knitwear and Restore Clothing.

Designed primarily for buyers, sourcing and production executives, various exercises will allow attendees to begin implementing alternatives right away into operations through awareness and knowledge, while being primed for future sustainability strategy.
