Is 3D printing poised to turn the way we make just about everything on its head – including clothing? With no waste, and the potential to use completely recyclable or biodegradable polymers and fibres, 3D printing could put a whole new spin on textiles and sustainability. Many major apparel brands can already be considered to be virtual companies – often outsourcing the manufacture of everything they sell to third parties, having established networks of global supply chains that have certainly contributed to the many problems we face today in respect of the use of natural resources.
