tarantula spiderBRISBANE – Scientists in Australia have found that the venom of the tarantula spider could be potentially used as a new bioinsecticide to protect cotton crops from the devastating effects of the bollworm pest. The discovery of a new protein which could be ingested by the bollworm, could not only help to lower the use of synthetic pesticides and their harmful environmental impacts, but also address the problem of insect resistance to chemical pesticides.
