SHANGHAI – The closure of chemical companies in China and India due to strict environmental directives is causing sharp increases in the price of textile dyestuffs due to shortages of intermediates. Ironically, these regulatory moves could have a negative impact on the environment if these extra costs are not passed on through the supply chain. By John Mowbray.
