NEW YORK – Twenty leading clothing brands along with 14 top designers have announced a new partnership with environmental organisation, Canopy, to pledge their support for the protection of ancient and endangered forests. Canopy has unveiled research which shows forests in places like Indonesia, Brazil and Canada continue to be cut down and pulped to make man-made fabrics like rayon and viscose, with last year’s figure of an estimated 70 million trees cut down for fabric production projected to double in the next 20 years.
