ARMESFOORT – UK retailer Marks & Spencer and chemicals company BASF are among a group of organisations backing the publication of a cross-industry social impact assessment handbook, which aims to embed social sustainability metrics in product design and decision making. The initiative evolved from the ‘Roundtable for Product Social Metrics’, which was set up by environmental group Pré Sustainability.

The ‘Handbook for Product Social Impact Assessment’ is a tool which aims to improve sustainable product development, assess products’ social impacts through their life cycles and scan supply chains for risks and improvement opportunities.
