BRUSSELS - Anonymity should not be granted to businesses that fall foul of Reach chemical legislation, while enforcement of Reach – the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and restriction of Chemicals - should be "visible and transparent". In a marked critique of the way in which Reach is imposed at a recent chemicals conference in Brussels, it was claimed there is currently a "massive variability in how much enforcement different EU countries actually do."

It was also argued that Reach is "not supposed to be a voluntary agreement" and "companies shouldn't be given easy routes to avoid doing things properly" – sentiments which chime with the findings of our recent Detox Deconstructed report.
