DHAKA - Responsible textile sourcing and worker conditions will be on the agenda at the first Dhaka Apparel Summit which takes place 7-9 December 2014 and is being organised by Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA). The theme of the conference is 'Bangladesh RMG 2021: 50 Billion USD in 50 Years' and among the sessions are 'Environmental Sustainability - A must' which will look at questions of "environmentally sustainable economic growth in a densely populated country, and examine how the RMG sector can meet the standards required." The session is one of five seminars at the event which have an environmental or social angle – a fact which itself emphases how Bangladesh's textile industry is increasingly recognising the need to embrace sustainability issues.
