HONG KONG - Legislation being introduced in early 2015 could herald a major breakthrough in the battle to stem pollution in China's textile dyeing and finishing sector as, for the first time, the new laws will mean it is no longer cheaper to pollute than to pay for wastewater treatment. Daily fines up to 30 times higher than previous sanctions, new laws which will allow the seizure of pollution sources and call for information disclosure, and better monitoring and law enforcement are among the many reasons why wanton pollution by China's textile industry may set to become a thing of the past.
