MONTREAL – Canadian research firm Nanex has launched a new super-hydrophobic fluorine-free silica-based treatment with a ‘modifiable core’ to make it possible to add other specific properties to the water repellent coating, such as flame resistance and even anti-microbial properties. Nanex also revealed to Ecotextile News that it is now in talks with a leading textile manufacturer and retailer of high-end yoga apparel and accessories to bring the product to market in mid to late 2015.
