GOTHENBURG – Lindex has announced a ban on the use of per-fluorinated compounds (PFCs) in its products and is also encouraging its suppliers to phase out the use of PFCs – even for other brands – to ensure non-contamination. The Swedish fashion retailer, which has been phasing out PFCs since 2012, says all products ordered after October 2014 must not be treated with PFC compounds. The company is now working with specialty chemicals company, Rudolf Group, which has developed a fluorine-free and durable water-repellent finish for textiles called Bionic-Finish Eco, which is now being used on Lindex’s entire outdoor range.
