DHAKA – Two leading global unions have written to the Bangladesh finance Minister criticising his recent suggestion that the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety was like a 'noose' around the neck of the garment industry. Mr Abul Maal Abdul Muhith reportedly claimed at a meeting of garment industry employer associations that the confidence of the brands in the Bangladesh garment industry has now been won and therefore the Accord should cease operations.
