BRUSSELS – The European Commission is being urged to pass legislation that will move EU member states towards a circular economy model by, among other things, drawing up measures to eliminate planned obsolescence – a step, which if taken, could have major ramifications for the fast fashion industry. Binding waste-reduction targets, revamped eco-design legislation and measures to break the link between growth and the use of natural resources are also among demands in a resolution passed by environment MEPs, who are asking for new legislation by the end of 2015.
