SAN FRANCISCO – A new report claims clothing being retailed by some of the world's most popular brands is being made from wood-based fabrics - like rayon, viscose, modal - which have links to land-grabbing in countries such as Indonesia and Brazil. The report by the Rainforst Action Network (RAN) documents the recent global expansion of mega-plantations for the production of pulp for fabrics, and the resulting damage to indigenous, forest-dependent communities.
