LENZING – Austrian Lyocell fibre business Lenzing has announced a notable upturn in its financial fortunes in 2015, with revenues of Euro 955.4m for the first half of the year – up 6.2 per cent on the corresponding period of 2014 when revenues were Euro 900m. The company also made a Euro 51.6m profit for the period which, while not spectacular, is significantly up on the Euro 15.2m posted for the first half of 2014. As well as benefiting from currency effects and an improved cost base, the company also said it has been helped by a more favourable supply-demand ratio, among other reasons due to several local viscose fibre production plants being shut down in China for environmental reasons.
