Compensation

GENEVA – A group of NGOs are again calling on German retailer KiK to provide long-term compensation to the victims of the Ali Enterprises Fire in Pakistan which killed 250 textile workers in 2012. With the third anniversary of the disaster approaching, Industriall, UNI and the Clean Clothes Campaign claim KiK, which initially paid US$1 million to an interim fund set up for victims, has subsequently failed to meet its obligations under a Memorandum of Understanding it signed agreeing to "engage in good faith negotiations to determine long-term compensation for victims."
