GENEVA - The Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) is continuing its rapid growth trajectory. New figures show 1.2 million farmers participated in the BCI's programme in 2014, up 79 per cent from 2013, while Better Cotton lint production was up a 118 per cent over the same period to 2 million metric tonnes. Better Cotton made up 7.6 per cent of global cotton production in 2014, and Better Cotton is now grown in 21 countries. "We continue to forecast increased growth in 2015 with our share of global production increasing to over 11 per cent," said Patrick Laine, CEO of the BCI.
